Reaching peak at the center of a great city and want to park in a few minutes was so far every driver’s dream, but today, this dream is a reality in the city of Nice (France), thanks to the implementation of specific technology that makes the city an intelligent environment, a smart city.
This project, where Nice is committed to carrying out a plan for renewal and restructuring that allows them to build a model eco-city, has been one of the most successful cases of the Smart City Expo & World Congress held recently in Barcelona , and has been awarded in the category “Best Project” at the World Awards Smart City in the same conference.
The technology applied to the city of Nice in combination with a policy of improved transportation and circulation, allowing parking in the city is smart and helps to facilitate the mobility of drivers, improve the rotation of vehicles on the road, an easy monitoring of payments (and charge for the time actually parked, etc.). Improvements to the user values very positively.
The project, which will host a whole lot more areas (control of air pollution, optimizing the collection of waste, improved street lighting, control of water use in irrigation service, etc..), And is developing specific initiatives such as increasing public transport capacity (offering 20% more lines and offers a 25% pass rate), the creation of 1,360 parking spaces to discourage traffic to access the city ordevelopment of alternative transport (bicycles, electric vehicles, etc..), among others.
From 2012 Nice install 10,000 wireless sensors in a progressive manner to achieve the objectives set definitely in the spotlight of eco-city. The complexity of the project is that the City of Nice count with different companies that will accompany her on this path such as Urbiotica (leading provider of smart technology city), SDC (with the introduction of technology) or the company SEMIACS (managing parking Nice and developer of the project). All are recipients of the award received at the Smart City Expo & World Congress in Barcelona and collected the award on 30 November during the gala dinner of the congress.
