After Issy-les-Moulineaux, San Francisco and Toulouse, Nice makes testing a smart parking system. Officially opened on Thursday, the program aims to reduce car traffic and improve life quality of Nice. Its deployment is expressed through the establishment of communication sensors on all parking spaces in the city.
The company based in Barcelona, Urbiótica (2008), leading provider of technology products for the Smart Cities’ sector, has finalized a funding round of 1.500.000€. After a 1st round from the founding partners and financial support from public institutions such as ACC10, ENISA or CDTI, in this second round investors like Caixa Capital Risc or Simon Holding have participated, confirming the credibility, growth and international projection of Urbiótica.
This new funding round is dedicated to foster the growth of the company, which estimates to increase sales from the 250.000 EUR in 2011, when commercial activities started, to more than 2.500.000 EUR in 2012.
Urbiótica understands cities like a living and integral ecosystem, and develops technology to collect and serve urban data in real-time, dedicated to improving management, efficiency and sustainability in urban spaces.
