Paris goes smarter with Urbiotica’s technology
We are happy to announce the successful finalization of the installation process in the streets of Paris.

In Rue Convention and Rue Cronstad of the XVeme., we now have an active deployment of Urbiotica’s City Operating System® , including several of our communication elements (U-Flags and U-Box), 13 of our parking sensors installed in regulated special parking spots (for short-term parking and disabled), 12 of our traffic monitoring sensors, several of our environmental sensors and 2 of our dumpster sensors monitoring the filling level of glass containers.

In the deployment we have worked closely with the local authorities (Paris Region-Lab and Ville de Paris) and also local companies EVESA and Dereichbourg. The common goal was to validate how well Urbiotica’s products integrate into existing urban scenarios, especially considering issues such as ease and time of installation.

From now on, as our sensors are collecting live data, the objective of all stakeholders involved in the project is to evaluate together the technology, focusing on how the real-time data is going to help the city of Paris to run some of its urban services more efficiently.

Urbiotica’s solutions being tested in Paris
One year after Urbiotica’s City Operating System® was selected by the Municipality of Paris (France) as one of the innovation projects to be deployed in the city, we are finally starting our test deployment in the streets of the neighborhood 15th in Paris.

The test includes installation of an active sensor network to capture, transport and serve data from parking availability on streets, management of public lighting, filling level from glass dumpsters and several environmental parameters such as humidity and temperature.

Before the summer all the hardware elements will be in place and already collecting data from the different services and parameters. We will then work together with the correspondent city agencies in order to identify best-practices and value of the data for each of the management services.

Urbiotica nominated for the Living Labs Global Award 2012
Urbiotica is on the nominees list for the Living Labs Global Awards 2012, with its “Intelligent waste management solution” based on active wireless sensors for urban dumpsters. Thanks to this technology-based solution, the managers of the waste collection service can obtain real-time information on the level of filling of each dumpsters and take more efficient decisions on the collection routes, saving money and contributing to a general improvement of the service for citizenship. Our solution also includes a network of environmental sensors which monitor several parameters for air quality in the city.
