- Easy to install
Before installation, the parameters of the primary and backup networks are configured according to the customer’s preferences through the configuration web contained in the U-Box. The three available interfaces are Wi-Fi, 3G/GPRS and Ethernet.
- Auto-recovery of the mesh network
In case connectivity is lost, the U-Box has a mesh network reconfiguration mechanism to forward the data from the sensors to another U-Box. This prevents loss of connection between the sensors and the platform.
For network settings with a single controller, the U-Box will store in its internal database the information and send it to the platform once the connection is restored.
- Real-time information
The U-Box periodically sends technical data to determine in real time the status of the device and quality of the network connection to which the devices is connected.
- Remote upgrading
The remote upgrading, diagnostics and service tools implemented in the network controller significantly reduce field-based maintenance tasks and costs.
Features / Functions
The U-Box should be installed on street lamps, spotlights on walls or other street furniture that have access to a permanent power supply. In case of any temporary failures in the power supply, they will be powered by internal batteries.
The Urbiotica sensor network does not generate or transmit personal information. The data measured and transmitted are observations of physical parameters that are encrypted for greater security.
It has successfully passed the IP54 waterproof, IK08 mechanical resistance and accelerated ageing tests. It guarantees its useful life of 12 years even in very harsh conditions.
Its casing measures 7.5 cm by 20 cm with a height of 30 cm. It weighs around 1.5 kg.
The U-Box can receive data from installed sensors and routers at a distance of up to 200 metres. A specific study of the area is carried out in each installation to define the maximum distances between devices and their orientation.
The U-Box is the main element of the WSN network collecting all the data captured by the sensors and routed by the U-Flag for transmission to the U-Admin platform.
How our sensor network controller works
The parameters of the operator or the Wi-Fi or Ethernet network preferred by the customer and the addresses of the server of the U-Admin platform to which it will be transmitted are configured through the U-Box configuration web.
U-Box receives the data sent by the sensors and routers that are within its range and forwards it to U-Admin. It also periodically sends data on its status and the quality of the connection with the platform.
U-Admin processes and transforms the data into useful information which are then distributed to the applications.
