Reduce congestion produced by looking for parking in the Apumanque area of Las Condes

There are two shopping centres and numerous shops in the Apumanque area of Las Condes, representing a major shopping attraction for citizens of Las Condes.

Their popularity would cause troublesome congestion of vehicles looking for parking. This would generate ill feeling, stress and affect the situation of citizens and shoppers in the area.

The aim of the project that we developed for Entel was to reduce traffic congestion in the area caused by vehicles looking for somewhere to park.

The sensing system provides useful information in real time

U-Spot sensors were deployed on 150 outdoor parking spaces and U-Flows at the entrances and exits of the car parks of two shopping centres.

The data captured is transformed into useful information that informs customers on the availability of spaces through information panels.

Improves accessibility and parking in Apumanque

The information panels communicate information on the occupation of spaces to drivers. Thanks to the information communicated on the panels, the vehicles are guided according to the actual availability of parking spaces, reducing unnecessary traffic flow caused by looking for parking by up to 30%.

Improves citizen satisfaction and image of the area

Parking in Apumanque is now far quicker and more efficient. Thanks to the solution introduced, there has been a 30% reduction in vehicle congestion and pollution levels generated. Citizens are satisfied because they no longer waste time looking for parking, suffer less stress and have an improved quality of life. They have returned once again to the centre to shop, boosting local trade.

In the smart city project developed for Entel, we based our proposal on mobility solutions that meet the needs of the operator, administration and citizens.
